Ajax are reportedly keeping a close eye on the English midfielder as he is reportedly ready to quit the Saudi Pro League.
The former Liverpool captain left Merseyside for Saudi Arabia in the summer for a reported £12 million as he joined up with Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.
It was then revealed late last week that the 33-year-old wanted to leave and was considering a Premier League return.
This has put several clubs on high alert, including Ajax who are reportedly interested.
