Erling Haaland twice flirts with Manchester City amid speculation of transfer to the Etihad

Erling Haaland is a calculated character, which makes you wonder if he knew exactly what he was doing when he walked into the Lowry ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Haaland is not only one of the most prolific strikers on the planet at the age of just 20-years-old, but he also seems to be well-equipped in terms of raising his profile as a player and ensuring that he gets as much attention as possible.

If the intention is to secure a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world, one that may well include record-breaking financial intricacies, then you’ve got to play the game in the manner in which he and Mino Raiola have over the past weeks and months.

Haaland, in Manchester to face Premier League champions-elect City at the Etihad, managed to stir the pot of transfer speculation even further after being spotted walking into the Lowry Hotel with a sky blue bag on his back.

As reported by The Sun, City are very much in the running to sign Haaland, with Sergio Aguero set to leave in the summer, and are one of the richest clubs on the planet – so have the necessary financial power to pull it off.

It’s hard to imagine that Haaland had no idea what people would say if he was spotted walking into the Lowry with a bag that colour. It’s hardly confirmation of his move to City, but it’s, once again, a talking point involving this Norwegian superstar.

And get this – he wasn’t done there, either.

As the striker trotted down the tunnel in the Etihad, with Dortmund taking a training session out on the pitch, Haaland took a moment to admire the beauty of City’s 55,000 seater stadium.

There’s certainly enough here to get City fans excited…
