Erik ten Hag has slammed some of Manchester United’s transfer signing’s before the Dutchman took over.

Ten Hag has done wonders for Manchester United since arriving from Ajax in the summer despite their more than shaky start.

The Red Devils were humiliated in their two opening games of the season, losing 2-1 to Brighton before getting humbled 4-0 by Brentford.

But they managed to claw it back, they now sit fourth in the table and a big reason for this is Ten Hag’s recruitment in the summer.

The signings of Lisandro Martinez, Tyler Malacia and Casemiro have done wonders for this squad but that hasn’t always been the case.

In a recent interview with Voetbal International, the Dutch manager openly criticised some of the players brought in before his arrival.

‘Manchester United didn’t exactly have the fear factor last season,’ Ten Hag said.

‘I looked at the culture of the club. I asked ‘how did Manchester United become great?’

‘The club has bought an unimaginable number of players in recent years who have not been good enough.

‘Most purchases have been average – and at United average is not good enough. United’s shirt weighs heavily.’

Some of the club’s previous signings have been questionable at best but it looks like they might have finally found the right formula.

What do you think Manchester United can achieve this season?
