England Player of The Year Kalvin Phillips has been snapped in Selfridges without a face mask pulled over his nose and mouth.

You can be forgiven for thinking this category of news is ‘so 2020’, and to be perfectly honest, it is.

Still, the Daily Mail have run a story around a photo of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips failing to wear his face mask in an appropriate manner.

Phillips starred for England throughout their memorable run in Euro 2020 and was subsequently handed the Player of The Year award.

He ought to be setting a good example for the younger generation, but is instead defying government guidelines by failing to wear a face mask over his nose and mouth while shopping in Selfridges.

The report notes that the woman by his side is his girlfriend, Ashleigh Behan, who’s not wearing a face mask at all.

There is a flagrant disregard for the rules in place – but they were not the only ones – with SEVENTY people in the shop pictured without their nose and mouth covered.

Irrespective of whether you believe wearing face coverings in shops and on public transport ought to be mandatory, this serves as evidence of how little authority the British government has left.

Even those who know they will face ridicule for breaking the rules, with England players being a prime example, are walking around busy shops without complying. It’s not a good look for anyone.
