Chelsea were actively exploring the possibility of bringing Eden Hazard back to the club prior to the sanctions imposed upon them, according to Goal.
Hazard is an era-defining player for Chelsea, having been so influential in a catalogue of successes over his seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge. Sadly, all good things must come to an end eventually, especially when Real Madrid come knocking.
Chelsea and Hazard went their separate ways in 2019, with Real Madrid having paid an enormous £130m for the privilege of having the Belgian at the club. That hasn’t proven to be a move that has worked out for either party, with Hazard now being nothing more than a benchwarmer.
There is now some suggestion that Hazard could yet write a new chapter in his Chelsea legacy, with Goal reporting that the club were actively exploring the possibility of bringing him back to the club prior to the U.K government shackling them over Roman Abramovich’s ownership.
Amid the void of Chelsea updates, before the preferred bidder news arrives, a great update on Eden Hazard’s future. He’s ‘fitter than ever’, frustrated at always missing Clasicos and could end up on a Gareth Bale-style loan soon: https://t.co/MvLu7HPHV8 #RMCF

Presuming that they could revive that possibility under new ownership, only a fool would rule out the possibility of seeing Hazard back in a Chelsea shirt come the start of next season. Whether that would bring him back to his brilliant best is another matter entirely.
