(Video) ‘Hitman Hearn’ jokes about coming out of retirement to end the Jake Paul circus

Eddie Hearn has joked that he’ll be forced to come out of boxing retirement if Jake Paul defeats Tommy Fury.

The Paul circus will be coming to town again on December 18th as he clashes with Fury in Florida. The 4-0 fighter will be going toe-to-toe with the first actual professional boxer of his career.

While the general consensus is that Fury will be a step too far up the fighting ladder for Paul, there is of course a possibility that he comes out of this bout as the victor.

It’s a rather harrowing possibility, but if it does happen, the Fury name will have been tarnished by a YouTuber, which would make a mockery of the sport – something nobody wants to see, least of all Eddie Hearn.

Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn suggested that he’ll have to dust off his gloves himself if Paul manages to get past Fury, Jake Paul, the YouTuber, is the toughest fight that Tommy Fury’s ever had, and this is his (eighth) fight.”

“I haven’t watched a lot of Tommy, I only watched his last fight and a couple of other blowouts, but people are telling me it’s a 50/50 fight. I can’t believe it. Surely, Tommy must win that fight. If not, I’m gonna have to come out of retirement and end this thing.”

Is Tommy Fury the man to end the Jake Paul nonsense?

During a previous interview with ES News, Hearn revealed that he actually had a (rather short) amateur boxing career of his own, “My friends used to call me that. Because you guys, Americans might need to know, I did have a couple of amateur bouts.”

“I was absolutely terrible. My friends used to call me ‘Hitman Hearn’… Don’t worry about calling me ‘Hitman’. Eddie Hearn is fine.”

Considering the current state of boxing, we wouldn’t be surprised if Hearn was actually pencilled in to be Paul’s next opponent, should he triumph on December 18th…
