Eddie Hearn has confirmed that he could walk away from Conor Benn – and there’s a pretty good reason for it.
Ahead of Benn’s proposed fight with Chris Eubank Jr, Hearn must’ve thought he’d hit the jackpot. That was going to be a multi, multi-million pound fight.
However, Benn’s positive drugs test scuppered the bout, which was subsequently cancelled and resulted in Benn losing his license to box professionally.
In another cruel twist of fate for Benn, albeit an expected one, Hearn has confirmed that he would have to leave him in the gutter, were he banned from boxing altogether.
Eddie Hearn asked if he’ll still promote Conor Benn if he’s found guilty at a hearing regarding his positive drugs test: “Well no, because he’ll be banned.”

Benn continues to plead his innocence, so there’s not going to be a swift resolution here. This will be a lengthy battle from him, fighting against claims of wrongdoing.
He will acknowledge, though, the very real possibility that the governing bodies take his tests over his word and decide to blacklist him from the sport of boxing.
That would be a real shame, a waste of talent, but were he proven to be a fully-fledged cheat, nobody wants to see characters of that nature in the sport.
