DONE DEAL: Jose Mourinho to Manchester United

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that he has been informed by inside sources that Jose Mourinho is set to become the next Manchester United manager.

Mourinho, who was sacked in mid December after losing the Chelsea dressing room, undoing his side’s title defense in the process, has been lined up as Louis van Gaal’s successor.

The Dutchman is under intense pressure with speculation mounting about the amount of time he has left in charge at Old Trafford, although he still has a year left on his contract.

With Manchester United crashing out of the Champions League group stage and facing an uphill battle to finish in the top four, reports claim United have approached Mourinho to succeed Van Gaal.

Former Spurs manager Redknapp claims to have inside information about the ‘done deal’.

“It hasn’t worked out at all for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United,” he told Sirius XM. “It’s been a disaster for him – no doubt about that.

“From the people I know who are in the know, Jose Mourinho to United is a done deal.”

Mourinho himself has refused to disclose details about his next job although he has frequently stated his desire to remain in England where his family is settled.
