The former Cork goalkeeper and three time All-Ireland winner Dónal Óg Cusack was on The Sunday Game last night and spoke the absolute truth. Another weekend where a top hurling game was on behind pay per view wall, Cork vs Tipperary on GAAGO again!
The former Cloyne goalkeeper Dónal Óg Cusack believes hurling should be used to promote and grow the game not to help with subscribers on GAAGO. His dead right, an absolute joke hurling is the jewel in the crown and should be showcased everywhere.

Fair play to Donal Og on his last ever Sunday Game appearance to call it as it is https://t.co/b1P0bcXNAs

There needs to be more done for hurling, no doubt about Dónal Óg is spot on, absolute shocking from the GAA to not be growing the game of hurling more. The game does need Oxygen as Dónal Óg says.
Hes absolutely a 100% correct and shouldn’t lose his job after telling the truth…
Not alone that but a lot of people after purchasing to watch it on GAAGO had to watch a very bad picture on telly and it kept stalling…
Its an absolute disgrace that we cannot watch our National game on RTE…
What are we paying our lience for GAA GRAB ALL ASSOCIATION
Or any other free to air channel too.
And also Kilkenny/ Antrim match commentary was a disgrace and the camera work was awful
100% correct. I paid to view the Kilkenny v Antrim game. Never again. Camera work and commentary was a disgrace.
A total disgrace and I’m delighted it’s getting the air time finally as being a huge issue for hurling fans. Clare v Limerick a classic which was missed by so many and the “stalling” picture made it a disaster for those who bought it
We need all these games on RTE
It’s not known as the Grab All Association for nothing.Grabbers the lot of them in Gaa HQ
Jacqui Hurley was really struggling to defend RTE and the GAA on the great hurling sellout of 2023
What are we paying our lience for GAA GRAB ALL ASSOCIATION
Donal og was 100per cent right. Shame on the GAA and rte. Can’t watch our national game the best game in the world on our national broadcaster but we can watch Charles be crowned king.
GAA GREED!
I think that he is correct about these big games are being used by GAAgo to attract subscriptions both here and overseas. However there are many games that would not attract the viewership being shown on the GAAgo network. This is a new venture and a way of putting more gaelic games on an accessible platform.
Cork v Tipp and Limerick v Clare will always have massive attraction. These games do not require exposure Donald Og is I’m afraid to say is being a bit populist here and missing the bigger longer term potential Og GAAgo
You are 100 % wrong in saying those games do not need exposure. The opposite is the case . Imagine young kids watching this two brilliant games on Free TV. Those kids would be out with a hurley after the games. These kids are out future . Also and this is very important. I know of many elderly people in nursing homes who would dearly love to see the games . I also know many more elderly people at home who are not in a position to get pay per view . Is it fair on those great people not to see these brilliant hurling matches ?
There were in excess of 75k people at those two games. But you seem to believe that they are the only games that should be seen on television. GAAgo are show dozens of games and RTE are required to be showing a cross section. Give GAAgo a chance. I assure you television will not be responsible for future hurlers that will always be the clubs. The clubs need money and might I suggest GAA clubs allow the showingg of GAAgo.
Hurling is the only game, Gallic football is Bog Ball little or no skill compared to Hurling.
I’m not Donal Og’s biggest fan but he has hit the nail on the head and not for the first time.
Because Dónal has kickstarted this now national debate they would now be afraid of the backlash if he was dropped.
There is no chance that Donal òg will be axed for speaking his mind, because the heirachy of RTE are an open minded bunch
considering they put up with Eamonn Dunphy for years
Andy ring.so you can play gailaic football as it has
Little or no skill just like writing a comment
Not a fan of Donal og but have to agree with him on this. why not get Virgin 1 to show these matches that Rte do not show.
I’m not a fan of Donal Og but I strongly agree with him and what he said. He was clear, straight and hit the nail on the head
there will be a revolution in the gaa if anything happens donal of.i said after the clare limerick game and they kept going to clare limerick and Cork tipp.iv played more matches and watched more great matches in semple than any of those gobshites can ever remember.its time for our great members to stand up and be counted and take back our great sport from the vultures who want to destroy it.enough is enough.premier Abu.
