Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic was branded a “lying, sneaky, arsehole” by newsreaders on Channel 7 in Australia.
Djokovic has been accused of several counts of wrongdoing relating to his attempts to bypass Australia’s strict COVID regulations and compete in the Australian Open.
The Serb has had his visa revoked and reinstated by the powers at be, but if you’ve been paying any attention to news reports in recent days, you’ll be well aware that the issue could be much more serious than whether or not he is granted entrance to the country.
There have been inconsistencies found with Djokovic’s December COVID-19 test results, with pretty considerable evidence found to suggest he has attempted to mislead authorities AND failed to adhere to the mandatory quarantine period after testing positive for the virus.
They are, at this point, just allegations, but the mood towards Djokovic has soured in the midst of all the drama, particularly among the Australian people who have been forced to endure draconian measures since the pandemic began.
The feeling down under was epitomised in a leaked clip from Channel 7 news, during which presenters Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor were heard referring to him as a “lying, sneaky, arsehole.”
Maddern has since apologised… but is she wrong?
