Novak Djokovic is being held in an immigration facility as the authorities determine whether he will be deported from Australia.
Djokovic, who is an anti-vaxxer, was under the impression that he’d received an exemption to compete in the Australian Open – he was wrong.
The Serb has been left with egg on his face after travelling all the way down under only to be held by authorities after having his visa cancelled.
The Australian government have thus far not been convinced that he should be allowed entry to the country having not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
As a result, as is reported by ITV News, he has been escorted to an immigration facility where he will be held until a definitive decision has been reached.

At the time of writing, it seems unlikely that Djokovic will be granted his visa and the right to compete in the Australian Open.
Irrespective of whether you agree with Australia’s draconian approach to COVID-19 restrictions, the idea of granting Djokovic an exemption merely as a result of his tennis ability is a dangerous road to go down.
