Dillon Quirke’s GAA Club Clonoulty-Rossmore have come out with a powerful image and statement. The whole GAA community was in mourning last night and today as the young man only 24 years of age passed away while playing a hurling match.
Something that should never happen, we send out best wished to his family and friends and everyone in that knew him. Just awful young man with his whole life ahead of him. May he rest in peace.

Thank you for all the kind messages. Maybe in time, these will provide some comfort. For now, we are beyond despair.
A vigil will be held in Dillon's memory tonight at 8:15pm in the GAA grounds. All are welcome. Parking available in adjacent field. Please drive and park safely. pic.twitter.com/X96ArgbJ0S— Clonoulty-Rossmore GAA (@ClonRossGAA) August 6, 2022
All club games in Tipperary have been cancelled this weekend, the right call is made as it just shows that there is a lot more to life than hurling. It just shows what a great organisation the GAA is the way, everyone has come together.
We in Tyrone are only too aware of the pain and anguish you and your club members feel as we experienced the same shock and loss when the late Cormac McAnallen passed away in 2004 at age 22 years. In an unfortunate coincidence I attended the wake today of Cormac’s dad, Brendan. But you can be sure that, as we experienced, the GAA community country wide will embrace you and share your load and your grief. May Dillon rest in peace.
