Derby dip into United reserves and snap up teenage defender on loan

According to the Daily Mail, newly appointed Derby boss Wayne Rooney has contacted his old team-mate Olé Gunnar Solskjaer to get his hands on a centre-back.

This is Rooney’s first transfer window as Derby manager and he’s gone back to his old club Manchester United to borrow teenage defender Teden Mengi on loan until the end of the season.

Eighteen-year-old Mengi has been training regularly with United’s first team and made his debut in the Europa League against LASK last season.

Derby currently sit 18th in the league having won their last three games. Solskjaer believes a move to Derby could benefit his young talent and was happy to accommodate Rooney.
