Biggest hint yet that top heavyweight is nearing ring return

All signs point towards Deontay Wilder making his long-awaited return to the boxing ring.

Wilder has not fought since being defeated by Tyson Fury in their trilogy fight. He was formally dethroned as the heavyweight champion of the world and it was unclear if he’d ever fight again.

There have been continual links between Wilder and top heavyweights, notably Dillian Whyte, but the American’s appetite to step into the ring has not been clarified throughout this period of absence.

We have now been given a pretty clear indicator that he could soon return, with Badou Jack taking to Twitter to share a photo of the pair and welcome Wilder back to the boxing gym.

Wilder could, of course, merely be keeping fit, but considering he has never officially retired from the sport, you have to think that this is a telltale sign that he is looking to get back on the scene.

Even in defeat against Fury, Wilder proved that he could breach the defences of even the best heavyweight on the planet, repeatedly, and knock him down to the canvas.

Prior to the trilogy fight, nobody on these shores thought that he was as good a fighter as he proved he was against the Gypsy King. We’d LOVE to see him fight again!
