Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to Instagram to send a message to Manchester United fans after completing his return to Old Trafford.

Man United confirmed on Friday that an agreement had been reached to re-sign Ronaldo, subject to the completion of personal terms and a medical.

The Red Devils have today revealed that the formalities have been completed, with Ronaldo officially a Man United player again. Back where he belongs, some would argue.

Ronaldo is currently training with the Portugal squad, but will join up with his new Man United teammates after the international break.

The next fixture on the calendar for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men is against Newcastle United on their home turf.

That will presumably be Ronaldo’s homecoming, a date to look forward to for Man United fans, but one which will not be televised in the UK, with it being a 3pm kick-off on a Saturday.

Regardless, Man United fans will have plenty of time to see Ronaldo back in the shirt, perhaps with his famous no. 7 on the back, or so the Telegraph claim.

It’ll be a huge moment for everyone with any Man United affiliation.

Ahead of time, CR7 has taken to Instagram to send a message to the Man United fans upon his return to the club. He sounds as delighted to be back as the supporters will be to have him.

The final line, a message to his mentor Sir Alex Ferguson, perhaps offers some insight into Ronaldo’s reasoning behind his return to Old Trafford.

He’s not doing Man United a favour, they will be paying him an astronomical amount of cash on a weekly basis [£480k-a-week according to the Daily Mail], but he owes a great deal to the club and Sir Alex in particular.

Ronaldo is returning while likely in the final years at the peak of his powers, with the intention of repaying Man United for their contributions to his career with silverware.

Sir Alex must be incredibly proud.
