Crazy Finish to the Exeter vs Northampton Saints Game – With the final Conversion

Posted by

Exeter are currently joint second of the Gallagher Premiership in England with Bristol Bears and missed a massive opportunity to go top of the table with the this conversion and final kick of the game. See it below;

Joe Simmonds the English number ten was deemed to have started his run up and thus the Northampton players were allowed chase him down and block him from kicking the ball. Did he start his run up though is the question? No doubt the referee will come under a lot of scrutiny over this decision which could cost Exeter Chiefs dearly at the end of the season. A team that did the double last season by winning the Champions Cup in Europe against French side Racing 92 in the final and winning the domestic trophy by winning the Gallagher Premiership. This was a big result however on the road for Northampton Saints to keep their hopes alive in the English Premier League.
