Fears are growing that the Premier League’s festive schedule could be severely disrupted – or even cancelled – by coronavirus, according to The Sun.
Tottenham and Manchester United had already had fixtures postponed prior to last night’s action as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak within their ranks. Burnley vs Watford was called off on merely a few hours’ notice after the visitors returned multiple positive cases.
With there also being concern over the virus at Aston Villa, Brighton, Leicester City and more, there is, unfortunately, a major question mark over whether Premier League clubs will be able to fulfil their festive fixture schedule.
As is reported by The Sun, the whole Christmas calendar is under threat following the surge in COVID-19 cases relating to the Omicron variant. More outbreaks and more postponements are anticipated. It remains to be seen how long it can go on before the Premier League hit the pause button.

Football fans were advised by the government on Wednesday to steer clear of stadiums, but unless that is written into the law, you imagine it’ll be falling on deaf ears.
Right now, the major concern is the sheer number of players becoming infected, rather than fans. It’s far more complicated to tackle that and at this point it’s unclear whether the Premier League have any sort of clear strategy.
