Ironman Ireland took place yesterday in the lovely seaside town of Youghal county Cork. Sadly at the event there were two people that passed away during the swim. A lot of people are angry with this and questioning why the swim went ahead, but frankly that’s very unfair.
Doing an Ironman is extremely gruelling and things like this sadly have happened at past events. We send our thoughts and prayers to the close family and friends of the two people that passed away.

Very tough swimming conditions at the #Ironman in #Youghal this morning. Big waves seemed to make the start particularly difficult. pic.twitter.com/vq30O5m2En

It was a fantastic event that was well supported on the day and Youghal really is a lovely town in the south east of the county. Ironman will return to Youghal again next year and we hope it only gets bigger and bigger. Well done to all involved.
