Castletownbere have left a lovely tribute to Gerard Lordan on their Facebook page. We’d like to send our sincere condolences to to Gerard Lordan’s close family and friends at this time.
It was with great sadness that The Castletownbere GAA Club and Parish learned of former player and friend, Gerard Lordan’s, sad passing. R.I.P.
During his recent illness Gerard showed the same amazing strength and bravery that we all saw many times when he played for Castletownbere.
From a young age Gerard showed great ability, dedication and leadership on the Club’s successful underage teams in the late 70s and early 1980s. It wasn’t long before he became an integral member of the intermediate football team. Playing with speed and reliability at fullback, Gerard helped the ‘Town go on to win the County Intermediate Football championship in 1986. Gerard was regarded so highly by his team mates that he was appointed their captain for Castletownbere’s historic first senior football campaign the following year.

Gerard retained a great interest in the GAA and it was a great source of pride for both him and Catherine to see their three talented sons carry on the tradition in gaelic football, representing both their club and county ,Ballinora and Cork.
The Castletownbere club and especially Ger’s former team mates wish to express our sincerest sympathy to his wife Catherine, his sons Mike, James and Neil, his extended family and friends on his bereavement.
