James hit headlines earlier this week after a recent spat with AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw the pair involved in a heated exchange.

In response to James’ relentless stance on issues such as social injustice and racism, Ibrahimovic advised the American star to ‘stay out of politics and stick to what he’s good at’.

Wasting no time in firing back, the 36-year-old basketball pro issued a no-nonsense statement saying (as quoted by ESPN): “I would never shut up about things that are wrong.

“I preach about my people, and I preach about equality. Social injustice. Racism. Systematic voter suppression. Things that go on in our community.

“Because I was a part of my community at one point and saw the things that were going on, and I know what’s going on still because I have a group of 300-plus kids at my school that are going through the same thing, and they need a voice. And I’m their voice. I’m their voice, and I use my platform to continue to shed light on everything that may be going on, not only in my community but around this country and around the world.

“So, there’s no way I would ever just stick to sports because I understand how this platform and how powerful my voice is.”

The two sporting juggernaut’s war-of-words have naturally stunned fans all around the world.

However, in a shocking turn of events, the latest athlete to weigh-in on the debate and take a pop shot at James is former UFC welterweight challenger, Covington.

The American’s latest no-nonsense comments have not been the first time the 170lb fighter has landed himself in hot water.

After beating Damien Maia via decision in 2017 during the UFC’s Brazilian event, in a shocking post-fight interview, Covington proceeded to take to the mic and call the South American country a ‘dump’.

The 33-year-old’s post-fight comments caused major unrest as fans inside the sold-out venue were seen hurling drinks and other debris towards officials.

However, in true Covington fashion, unable to pass up the opportunity to cause controversy, the 33-year-old has taken a swipe at NBA’s James.

Safe to say they don’t call him ‘Chaos’ for nothing.
