Conor McGregor’s camp in ‘talks’ over making ‘money fight’ after his recovery from leg break

Posted by

Jake Paul has claimed that talks are ongoing between his camp and Conor McGregor’s over pencilling in a boxing match.

Paul’s pivot from YouTube to boxing may not have convinced the masses that he’s a fighter, but his record to date has been exemplary.

The American has won by knockout in all three of his previous professional bouts, with former NBA star Nate Robinson the only man successful in taking him past the first round.

Granted, the strength of his opposition has been highly questionable, but when Paul steps through the ropes against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley next month, we’ll learn more about his credentials as a fighter.

What we do know for certain is that Paul draws a crowd, one which Conor McGregor’s camp could be keen to take advantage of, or so the social media star has claimed.

Jake Paul believes he could be Conor McGregor’s next opponent

Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Paul said:

“I think it will happen. Look, I’m the money fight for Conor McGregor right now.”

“There is no other fighter right now who is on a bigger level than me that is calling out Conor McGregor and wants to fight Conor.”

“Our team is in touch with his team and there’s talks of it actually happening. People at first thought I was just joking when I said I wanted to fight him.”

“But now it’s as real as it gets, it’s more real than ever and by the way, if we do fight, I’m going to knock him out.”

McGregor is, of course, in recovery at current, and when the leg’s healed, you imagine he’ll be keen on organising a fourth fight with Dustin Poirier.

You get the feeling, though, an easy-win, cash-grab against Paul is the kind of thing that could tempt McGregor.

Don’t be surprised if this one ACTUALLY happens.
