The feud between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar has significantly developed over the last few weeks and months, and the American Nightmare delivered on the mic once again last night on WWE Raw.
Rhodes accepted the Beast’s challenge for a rematch at Night of Champions, which was extended last week in typical Lesnar fashion as he cost Cody the chance of becoming World Heavyweight Champion and F5’d him through the announce table.
Cody discussed how he defeated Lesnar at Backlash, dispelling any suggestions of luck and then made his intentions clear for their next encounter.
He brought up Lesnar’s one-time moniker of “The Next Big Thing” and credited him with conquering the world of WWE and sports entertainment, but wondered what happened when he just became “Next”.
Rhodes finished by telling his rival that he needed him to step aside as he was not the Big Thing around here anymore and was simply in his way.

The battle over who the true Alpha Male on Raw has given their feud a strong and logical storyline, with the older Lesnar perhaps viewing Rhodes as a threat to his long-held supremacy in the company.
Another victory over Brock meanwhile will help Rhodes rebound from his crushing and controversial loss at WrestleMania to Roman Reigns and perhaps lead him to a rematch with the WWE Universal Champion at Summerslam.
