The wife of former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has revealed that the couple were left ‘gobsmacked’ after spotting a UFO while on holiday in Jamaica.
Smalling currently plays his football with AS Roma, meaning he’ll be linking up with former manager Jose Mourinho come the start of pre-season. For now, though, it’s time for him to enjoy his summer holidays.
With the 31-year-old being an Englishman of Jamaican descent, he and his family have embarked on a trip to the Caribbean island nation to enjoy the sunshine and scour the skies for flying saucers – or so it would seem.
Chris Smalling’s wife, Sam, took to Instagram to share a truly bizarre tale of how the pair of them spotted a UFO in the sky, even clarifying that they had not consumed any sort of hallucinogenics at the time.

This is one of the stranger football stories you’ll be reading this summer, but it’s a refreshing break from the unwavering barrage of transfer news which is currently dominating the football world.
It is unclear whether the Smalling family have been duped by an astronomical phenomenon or something man-made, or whether they really have seen an alien spaceship with their own eyes.
Either way, we’re glad she’s told the story, as it’s given us a good ol’ chuckle.
