Chris Eubank Sr has told Chris Eubank Jr he must beat Canelo Alvarez to redeem his boxing career.
The pair have become more distant in recent times with Eubank Jr’s ill fated clash with Conor Benn seemingly the catalyst of the falling out.
The weight being a key factor in their argument but eventually the bout was cancelled after Conor Benn’s failed test anyway.
The Brighton fighter then shockingly was knocked down and stopped by Liam Smith before he comfortably won the rematch against the Liverpudlian.

But his father doesn’t believe his win over Smith has redeemed him to the boxing fraternity and named the Mexican superstar, Canelo Alvarez as the man he should fight.
Speaking on TalkSPORT he said: “Let’s get to the point, Canelo is the only person he’s gonna be able to fight now to redeem any type of respect from the fighting public. Real fighters, real boxing people.”
“I know how you win respect, it’s not beating a Liam Smith. Junior this is what my view is – your saving grace is going to be Canelo. You’re never gonna get back down to 160lbs, I won’t allow that to happen anyway.
“You’re a 168lbs fighter, Canelo is your way to win respect and you cannot beat him, not Canelo.
“The only way you can beat him is if daddy is next to you. That’s it.”
