Chelsea leave two big names out of USA tour – because of their vaccination status

Chelsea have revealed that they will be two men down for their tour of the USA as a consequence of their vaccination status.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, players’ vaccination status was kept secret. After all, it is personal, medical information that does not need to be public knowledge.

The situation now appears to have changed. With Chelsea jetting off on their tour of the USA, two players will not be joining them on the plane as they are not vaccinated against the virus.

Chelsea confirmed on their official website that N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s vaccination status has rendered them ineligible to fly out to the United States and feature.

Whether or not they provided prior permission to the club to reveal this information is unclear, but it’s out there now, we know that these two players have decided against taking the vaccine.

It is a personal choice, after all. Clubs have encouraged all their players to take the jab, but they can’t force it upon them. Kante and Loftus-Cheek have made their choice and will not be heading to the States as a result.
