Chelsea release official statement on takeover – days before license expires

Chelsea have released an official statement on the club’s takeover, confirming that the sale is on the verge of being completed.

After Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government and revealed his intentions to sell the Blues, the club’s future was thrown into great uncertainty.

For two months now there has been continual talk of the possibility that Chelsea could fall into administration and the club’s future would subsequently be at risk.

While that has always seemed far-fetched, their special operating license is due to expire at the start of June, at which would they would be in SERIOUS trouble.

Thankfully, as has been revealed in an official statement on the club’s website, the sale is set to be completed on Monday, with Todd Boehly the new face of Chelsea.

“Chelsea Football Club can confirm that a final and definitive agreement was entered into last night to sell the Club to the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital consortium.”

“It is expected that the transaction will be completed on Monday. The Club will update further at that time.”

That will undoubtedly come as a huge relief for the Chelsea supporters, not least because their rivals are already active in the summer transfer market.
