Chelsea star “very close” to completing transfer in MAJOR blow for Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is reportedly ‘very close’ to becoming a Barcelona player.

Alonso has been a fine servant to Chelsea since joining the club under Antonio Conte’s rule back in the summer of 2016. He has always been precarious defensively, but his offensive contributions from wing-back cannot be understated.

There has always been a suggestion that he is better suited to Spanish or Italian football than he is to the English game, but even so, what he has achieved during his time in the Premier League, with that in mind, is mightily impressive.

His time as a Chelsea player now does appear to be coming to an end, though. Alonso has just one year left on his contract, with Chelsea understood to be open to the idea of cashing in on him in the summer transfer window.

According to Todo Fichajes, Alonso’s departure from Stamford Bridge is near enough signed and sealed. The former Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland defender is understood to be on the verge of signing for Barcelona.

He will join Andreas Christensen and potentially Cesar Azpilicueta in moving to the Nou Camp, with Xavi seemingly intent on strengthening his back-line by copying Thomas Tuchel’s homework. That’s one way to do it!
