Chelsea receive MAJOR boost in summer pursuit of superstar striker

Chelsea have been the side most closely linked with challenging Barcelona for Robert Lewandowski – and they could have reason for optimism.

Lewandowski has made no secret of his desire to leave Bayern Munich this summer, which would ordinarily have alarm bells ringing across European football, but the Pole has continually insisted that he only wants Barcelona.

Chelsea, with Romelu Lukaku departing, have been linked with a move for the goal-machine, but if his intention is to move to the Nou Camp, then Todd Boehly could be forgiven for thinking he’d only be wasting his time.

However, 90min report that Bayern are relaxed over Lewandowski’s future at the Allianz Arena as they do not believe Barca have the necessary funds to improve their previous bid for the superstar striker.

Considering he has spent weeks publicly declaring his desire to leave Bayern, it would be difficult for Lewandowski to stick around at the club, even if Barca were unable to find the cash to buy him.

With Lukaku set to rejoin Inter Milan, could the stars be aligning for Thomas Tuchel, who will undoubtedly be in the market for a striker who is capable of carrying the goal-scoring burden at Stamford Bridge?

Could Lewandowski be the man to come in and break the no. 9 curse at Chelsea, propelling them from top-four-battlers into the title race? It’s a long summer – only a fool would rule it out at this point…
