Chelsea pussyfoot in 24-word statement over “situation” in Ukraine… with NO mention of Russia

Has Roman Abramovich ACTUALLY stepped away from his active duties at Chelsea? This morning’s statement leaves you wondering if he has…

Abramovich released a statement on Saturday evening revealing that he had handed over stewardship of his football club to the  “trustees of Chelsea’s charitable foundation.”

The Russian oligarch was clearly intent on protecting his asset from whatever may come his way in terms of sanctions amid strained relations between Russia and the United Kingdom.

Chelsea have now been provided with the chance NOT to be tarnished by association with Abramovich, but it’s one which they evidently have no intention of taking.

Instead, the club put out an incredibly weak 24-word statement on Sunday morning, calling for peace but not acknowledging any wrongdoing on Russia’s part.

The club released the statement via their website:

“The situation in Ukraine is horrific and devastating. Chelsea FC’s thoughts are with everyone in Ukraine. Everyone at the club is praying for peace.”

There’s no more to it, it’s just that.

There has been no “situation” in Ukraine. Their Twitter account used the word “conflict,” again, wrong. There is an invasion, one conducted by the Russians which has taken Ukrainian life.

Chelsea have been so careful with their language that they’ve essentially said nothing at all…
