Mohamed Salah to Chelsea: £100m fee, highest salary in the league and more

Chelsea are reportedly keen on bringing Mohamed Salah back to Stamford Bridge.

Salah, who scored against Chelsea while playing for Basel, later signed for the Blues under Jose Mourinho’s stewardship.

After loans to Fiorentina and AS Roma, during which Salah thrived in Serie A, it became clear that he was simply too good to be stuck among the substitutes.

The Egyptian was subsequently sold to AS Roma permanently, later joined Liverpool and the rest is history.

With Salah’s contract due to expire in the summer of 2023, there is once again a question mark over his future.

Liverpool have been unwilling to meet his salary demands and it now remains to be seen if the impasse can be bypassed.

Chelsea are understood to be keen on taking advantage of the situation and rectifying the mistake they made with Salah.

According to Fichajes, the world champions are prepared to make Salah the best-paid player in the Premier League in order to tempt him back to the club.

If they are to do so this summer, the belief is that they would have to pay €120m (£100m+) to convince Liverpool to sell.

That’s rather steep for a player with 12 months left on his deal…
