Chelsea star Kai Havertz suffered a nasty finger injury while scoring the Blues’ opening goal against Tottenham on Wednesday evening.

Havertz’s effort appeared to be heading into the bottom corner of Hugo Lloris’ goal regardless, but Spurs’ Davinson Sanchez made absolutely sure by hammering it into the back of his own net.

In doing so, he gave Chelsea the lead within five minutes in a game that they went on to comfortably win 2-0, and in truth, Spurs were lucky not to have conceded significantly more.

Perhaps if the Chelsea goalscorer Havertz was able to remain on the field of play, the Blues would have killed the tie off. After all, the German has five goals in three Carabao Cup appearances.

Unfortunately for Havertz, however, he had to leave the field at the half-time break as a result of a nasty finger injury he suffered in the process of scoring his goal.

The damage done to Havertz’s finger was caught by the photographers in the ground, and we warn you, this is NOT for the faint-hearted. Yuck!
