A shock report from the Daily Mail on Friday night claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing Harry Maguire from Manchester United.
Chelsea are in the market for defensive reinforcements, with Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana thought to be top of their wishlist, despite Leicester’s unwillingness to sell.
Todd Boehly would be unwise to put all his eggs in one basket at this stage of the transfer window, so it’s no surprise to hear Chelsea are exploring alternatives.
However, considering how wretched his last 18 months have been, few would have predicted that Harry Maguire’s name would appear on the shortlist…

With Man United showing interest in Christian Pulisic, Chelsea are understood to have enquired as to the availability of the Red Devils’ polarising captain.
It would make little sense for Chelsea to pursue a player who would presumably cost a lot and whose stock has been down considerably in recent times.
In the transfer market, though, you cannot rule anything out. Maguire may well make the move to Stamford Bridge before the end of the month…
