SEISMIC change at Chelsea as respected transfer chief gets premature chop

Chelsea have confirmed the departure of transfer chief Marina Granovskaia in an official statement on the club’s website.

The Blues’ boardroom has been subject to a major shakeup in recent days, one which could have been anticipated after Roman Abramovich agreed to sell the club to the Boehly/Clearlake consortium.

Both Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia were long-serving allies of Abramovich. Naturally, that raised serious doubts over their long-term futures at Stamford Bridge under the new regime.

However, there was expected to be a lengthy transition period, during which particularly Granovskaia would help Boehly learn the ropes of the negotiating game in football, something he has never experienced.

Apparently not, though, with Chelsea releasing an official statement via their club website on Wednesday morning confirming that Granovskaia has left her position effective immediately.

Boehly said, “We thank Marina for her many years of excellent service to the Club and wish her all the best in her future ventures.” Merely a sentence for all of her hard work.

Granovskaia has been at the helm over a period of immense success for Chelsea. Sadly, her final and lasting memory will be the disastrous Romelu Lukaku transfer.
