Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc gave an emotional interview after a strategy howler cost him a podium place at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Leclerc, who was considered Max Verstappen’s biggest title rival at the start of the season, has continually been cost points in the WDC by unforced errors.
While some of those have been his own, many have come from his team, with Sunday’s mistakes leaving no uncertainty over where the blame should fall.
Ferrari made the bizarre decision to put Leclerc on the hard compound tyre, which cost him a significant amount of race pace and forced him into another unplanned pit stop.
As a result, Leclerc lost more ground on Verstappen, who ultimately won the race, with no Ferrari driver on the podium despite having qualified second and third on Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, Leclerc was not in a particularly good mood in his post-race interview – and he admitted he had no idea what his team were thinking…
