The 32 year old right back Spanish defender César Azpilicueta could be set to leave Chelsea football club and joining Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Chelsea captain could very well leave the Blues’ camp during their US tour and meet up with Barcelona’s US tour. He could then have his medical in the States, as Robert Lewandowski did. This is expected to happen in the next few days, you can get more by by visiting this site.

The Champions League winner is expected to join Barcelona on an initial two-year contract with an option for a further year to be added. The price will work out as between €4m and €5m. If he does leave he will leave the West London club with a huge legacy.

Chelsea meanwhile have identified Lens wing-back Jonathan Clauss as a potential replacement for Cesar Azpilicueta, who could be allowed to join Barcelona before the start of the new campaign, according to reports.

The latter remains tied down to the Blues until the end of next season but has been heavily linked with a move to the Catalan giants for a nominal fee over the last few months.

Barcelona are said to be keen on bringing Azpilicueta to the Nou Camp in order to further strengthen their back line after agreeing to sign Andreas Christensen on a free transfer towards the end of last season.

It seems as though Chelsea have already sounded out Azpilicueta’s eventual successor in Clauss, who is now being lined up for a move to Stamford Bridge, according to Goal.

Azpilicueta is a youth product of Osasuna, Azpilicueta spent three seasons in La Liga before switching to Marseille, winning four major honours with the French club. In the summer of 2012, he moved to Chelsea, winning the Europa League in his first season and a domestic double two years later.

He has made over 450 appearances for Chelsea and is currently seventh on their list of all-time appearances; Petr Čech is the only non-English person to have played more times for the club. He captained Chelsea to win the Europa League in 2019, the Champions League in 2021 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021.

If or when he does leave the club he will leave as a club legend and a lot of Chelsea fans would have great time for the Spanish defender and would wish him well as he returns to Spain. Anytime he played for Chelsea he gave it 100% and gave a solid ten years at the club. We wish him well.
