Jamie Carragher takes inadvertent dig at Mohamed Salah in wake of AFCON final heartbreak

Jamie Carragher may have taken an inadvertent did at Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah in wake of the AFCON final.

Salah’s Egypt battled commendably over 120 minutes of action against Senegal, but fell short on penalties and subsequently suffered heartbreak in Cameroon.

Salah did not take a penalty in the shootout, with the Ballon D’Or contender being Egypt’s fifth-choice to shot from 12-yards. He never got the opportunity to do so.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, tweeting in wake of the AFCON final, claimed that it was a poor decision from Egypt to have Salah as the fifth taker.

Trouble is, you can guarantee that it was Salah himself who volunteered to take the last spot-kick.

Not only is he the captain, but he’s following the Cristiano Ronaldo method of positioning yourself favourably to score the winning goal in the cup final.

In this case, it’s back-fired, but if there’s anyone who should take the blame for Salah not having the opportunity to take a penalty, it’s the player himself…
