Paul Robson and Caroline Kayll met whilst Robson was a prisoner in HMP Northumberland and had been dating for quite some time prior to Kayll’s brutal murder.
A court has heard that following the fighter’s release from prison, the pair began living together until they broke up at the back end of 2019.
The Jury of Newcastle’s Crown Court was told that Kayll, 47, who was previously a police officer as well as a social worker, began a ‘sexual relationship’ with a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to legal reasons (as per Chronicle Live).
The case, as relayed by Glasgow Live, includes details that Robson had discovered his ex’s relationship with the underage schoolboy and “did not take it very well”.
Following his discovery, Robson is alleged to have blackmailed Kayll for sums of money totalling around £29,000.
Still reeling from his discovery, Robson then decided to drive from Glasgow to Kayll’s home late one evening in November where he found her in the boy’s company.
According to prosecutors, in a shocking turn of events, Robson, who has been described as a “well-built” and “powerful” MMA fighter, “viciously” attacked Kayll.
The extent of the attack allegedly included severe injuries to her face and head, clumps of hair hacked off, a cut across her buttocks and ammonia poured on her.
The unnamed boy is also claimed to have been attacked at the same time and was stabbed 45 times.
Furthermore, the court also heard how Robson then emailed and messaged from Kayll’s personal accounts revealing the affair at the same time she was left fighting for her life in hospital.
Robson denies the charges which include murder, attempted murder and blackmail.
