Manchester United maestro Bruno Fernandes has said he “would not be happy at all” if he was in the same position as struggling midfielder Donny van de Beek.

According to the Daily Mail the Portuguese midfielders comments came during an interview with MUTV after United’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Fernandes admitted that he sympathises with the Holland star’s situation saying: “Donny had a great game,’ he told MUTV after the match. ‘Playing in the position I play, watching him he moves really good and played really well.

:It’s important for us. If I was in the position of Donny I would not be happy at all but the most important is doing what he does today, coming in and helping the team.

“We have a really good squad and we have options. If you look at the bench and the first XI today and the ones at home we have a really good squad.”

Van de  Beek joined United on August 30th 2020 from Ajax on a five-year deal worth a reported £35 million plus £5 million in add-ons.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford the 23-year-olds opportunities have been minimal with the midfielder only making a handful of starts under Olé Gunnar Solskjaer.

In an interview with AD Dutch football legend Ronald de Boer warned van de Beek should consider moving away from Old Trafford if he cannot be guaranteed first team football.

With Euro 2020 scheduled for this summer first team opportunities are vital for international players who will be hoping to book their place in their countries squad for the tournament.
