Brazilian footballer William Ribeiro was arrested on Monday night after violently lashing out at a referee, who ended up being rushed to hospital.
In a league game between Sao Paulo and Guarani, Ribeiro’s conceded to go 1-0 down, and for reasons unknown, the Brazilian absolutely lost his head.
The initial incident is slightly out of shot, but Ribeiro clearly kicks the referee while he’s on the floor, with players urging the medical team to get onto the pitch and help him out.

As is reported by The Sun, Ribeiro was arrested for what was essentially assault on a match official, without there being any logical explanation as to why the attack took place.
There is, and it goes without saying, no place for this sort of behaviour on a football pitch. Ribeiro should never be allowed to play football again when he does eventually see the light of day.
