Billy Joe Saunders has denied what he claims to be fabricated rumours that he stabbed a man and threatened another with a gun.
Billy Joe is hardly renowned for being a squeaky-clean boxer – if they actually exist – so when rumours began to circulate about him on social media, some fans were inclined to believe them.
As is reported by The Sun, a man has claimed that BJS stabbed his son through the hand before pulling out a gun and threatening to shoot him. They’re some pretty serious allegations.
However, so claims the boxer, who hasn’t fought since his defeat to Canelo Alvarez earlier in the year, there is absolutely no truth to the rumours that have been doing the rounds online.
The Sun’s report includes a recently released statement from the fighter, which reads: “I am aware of a video circulating on social media.”
“It makes certain allegations against me, all of which are complete rubbish.”

“However, given the police may be involved at some stage, my lawyer advises me to make no public comment at this stage.”
“I am of course more than happy to speak to the police should they wish to contact me.”
Such is the seriousness of the allegations, you do imagine that the police will be contacting BJS in due course to hear his version of events.
He will presumably be strongly refuting the claims and could even look to take legal action against those who have allegedly been inventing dangerous details about him.
