Manchester United and Newcastle United are in a transfer battle to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies have had a bid rejected already for Sesko, but according to David Ornstein, they have tabled another bid worth at least £70m.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and both Premier League clubs are vying for his signature.
United have missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea and Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal, and they will be determined to land Sesko, although they have yet to submit any formal bid.
According to a report from Sky Sports News, United have made contact with Leipzig to inquire about the cost of signing the striker.
The report claims that while the striker would be open to both projects, he is ‘leaning towards’ United if they can agree a deal.
However, Craig Hope of the Daily Mail claims that Newcastle are pushing ahead to sign Sesko, and the club were told on Monday that he is willing to sign for the St. James’ Park outfit.
Hope wrote: “Newcastle are tonight pushing ahead to agree a deal with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko after being given encouragement the striker wants to join.”
Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 games across all competitions last season, and it appears that he could be heading towards the Premier League.
