The Benfica manager was clearly happy to get the Argentine midfielder off his books if his most recent interview is anything to go by.
Enzo Fernandez broke the all-time British transfer record on deadline day when he completed his move to Chelsea for a whopping £106.8 million.
The Argentine midfielder caught the eye of the footballing elite during the World Cup when he put in some spectacular performances to help his side win the tournament.
This coupled with his age, drove up his price tag to astronomical numbers that only one side in the world could match, Chelsea.
The saga dragged on for the entirety of the window, Benfica’s manager didn’t hold back in his first interview after the deal was made official.

“It’s always difficult to lose a good player in the winter market. but today we showed that we are a good team without him, that we are capable of playing good football without him, that the players are focused on getting the most points, to be champions.” he said.
“Benfica is much bigger than a player. We just need players who are happy to play for Benfica, who are passionate.
“We had a player who wanted to leave and a club willing to pay the clause, we couldn’t do anything. We accepted and looked ahead.”
