Saturday night will see the UFC return with heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov set to headline the event’s main-card.
Ahead of the UFC’s next Fight Night which is scheduled to kick-off on Saturday night from 10pm (UK time), which will see heavyweight Alistair Overeem roll back the years when he takes on Alexander Volkov in the main-event.
Elsewhere, Bantamweight veteran Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar is looking to add a 24th professional win to his record when he takes on the technically superb Cory Sandhagen.
Looking ahead to the exciting event, we have predicted the outcome of three of the main-card’s match-ups.
Lightweight: Carlos Diego Ferreira (17-2) vs Beneil Dariush (19-4-1)
This fight is going reletively under the radar among fight fans, but keep your eyes peeled for a technical masterclass.
Ferreira and Dariush both come into this weekend’s main-card opener on a six and five fight win streak, respectively.
Both fighters will be confident they can extend their impressive run.
However, in what is set to be a very close encounter, I am backing Dariush to come away victorious.
Tip: Dariush to win via decision 10/3
Bantamweight: Cory Sandhagen (13-2) vs Frankie Edgar (23-8-1)
This weekend’s co-main event should be a great stylistic match-up.
Veteran Edgar, who made his UFC debut almost exactly 14-years ago is one of the sport’s most well-rounded fighters.
Elsewhere, Sandhagen who is at the opposite end of his fighting career is enjoying a brilliant rise in MMA’s top-tier promotion.
I expect to see this weekend’s co-main event play out as a tense encounter with Sandhagen doing just enough to convince the judges.
Tip: Sandhagen to win via decision 11/10
Featherweight: Alistair Overeem (47-18) vs Alexander Volkov (32-8)
Don’t blink! – This weekend’s main-event is set to be a heavyweight powerhouse showdown.
I would very surprised to see Overeem and Volkov go toe-to-toe for longer than two rounds.
In fact, I expect to see this heavyweight clash of the titans come to a dramatic end inside the fight’s first-round.
Tip: Overeem to win via KO/TKO 11/4
