Former Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim is understood to be brokering a deal to buy Chelsea on behalf of a Gulf-based billionaire, reports talkSPORT.
Ben Haim is a familiar face in West London, having played 13 times for Chelsea in the Premier League during his short stint at Stamford Bridge. He also featured for Bolton, Manchester City and West Ham.
The last thing that Chelsea fans would have expected was for Ben Haim to re-emerge from the woodwork just as the club is being sold, with the Israeli involved in an attempt to purchase the Blues.
However, as is reported by talkSPORT, Ben Haim really is brokering a deal on behalf of a Gulf-based billionaire.
The billionaire in question, who is choosing to remain anonymous, has reportedly proposed an initial £2bn upfront in exchange for Chelsea, with the promise of another £500m in funds.
There are understood to be as many as 30 bids that have been submitted to Raine Group for consideration, so it remains to be seen exactly how much of a chance Ben Haim has of being successful.
However, fair play to him for having success away from his time as a footballer. He’s clearly aligned himself with some VERY wealthy people, who evidently trust him plenty.
