Everton defender Ben Godfrey was EXTREMELY fortunate not to see red during his side’s clash with Arsenal on Monday Night Football.
The Toffees have been in a difficult period form as of late, with pressure mounting on manager Rafa Benitez.
The Everton supporters were not too keen on Benitez before a ball was even kicked under his stewardship, with these rotten performances doing him absolutely no favours.
Benitez and co were very lucky not to be down to ten men within 28 minutes of tonight’s game, one from which they absolutely needed a result.
Everton defender Ben Godfrey planted his studs near the face of Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, but following a VAR review, he was allowed to remain on the pitch.
You really do get the impression that Godfrey could have avoided that if he so wished. Do you think he should have seen red – or would that have been too harsh a punishment?
“That is something he could have avoided.”
Did Ben Godfrey and #EFC get away with one here? 👀
