Barcelona unveil their new no. 10 after Lionel Messi’s departure

Barcelona have confirmed that they have a new no. 10, with one of the club’s academy products taking the mantle from the great Lionel Messi.

The 2021 summer transfer window will be remembered as a complete and utter disaster from a Barcelona perspective.

As if losing Lionel Messi, the greatest player of all-time and an absolute icon of the club, wasn’t bad enough, their Deadline Day dealings were nothing short of baffling.

The Catalan giants parted ways with Antoine Griezmann, who has returned to Atletico Madrid, and replaced him with Newcastle United reject Luuk de Jong.

With de Jong set to be paired with former Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite upfront, you’re left wondering where it all went wrong for this great football club.

Still, there is SOME things to be optimistic about, with the club having produced some seriously talented youngsters in recent seasons.

One of them is Ansu Fati, who looked set to have an instrumental campaign for Barca last time around, before suffering a knee injury.

He’s back now, though, and Barca have confirmed on Wednesday morning that Fati will take Messi’s famous no. 10 shirt.

It’s a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of a teenager, but Fati has the ability and potential to be one of the best players in the world.
