Robert Lewandowski is set to be crowned the 2021 Ballon D’Or winner – that’s if a photo that’s doing the rounds on social media is legitimate.
This year’s Ballon D’Or has been one of the most difficult to call in years. Gone are the days where Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two frontrunners – it could genuinely be one of five crowned this year’s winner.
Robert Lewandowski, who would have won it last year were it not cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is ranked among the favourites, alongside Copa America winner Messi and double European champion Jorginho.
However, it’s the Pole that’s set to win the trophy, or so claims a leaked document that’s doing the rounds on social media. It shows Lewandowski first, Messi in second and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema in third place.

The winner will be formally crowned on November 29th in Paris, so we won’t know exactly how legit this document is until then. There have been leaks in the past, though, so there’s every chance it’s real.
Lewandowski, having been robbed of the award last year and astonishingly consistent in front of goal, would be good value for the win. Let’s wait and see if he actually gets it next month…
