Aubameyang has last laugh after Jamie Redknapp “past it” comments

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has certainly proved one of his critics wrong after the 31-year-old Arsenal striker his match-winning display against Benfica in the Europa League report the Mirror.

The critic was Jamie Redknapp who said: “When I watch him sometimes, it’s like he’s lost his superpower.

I saw him run past people when he first came to the Premier League. I saw him run past people at Dortmund. Now I’m seeing a player who looks like he’s going to get bullied.”

Auba looked far from being bullied after his match winning display against Benfica in the Europa League on Friday night.

The Arsenal striker came flying back to form after scoring twice as Arsenal edged out Benfica in the Europa League.

Aubameyang had a less than inspiring performance during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City which is what lead to Redknapp’s remarks.

The Gabonese striker was quick to put any doubts the former Liverpool ace had after a blistering display against Benfica on Thursday.

After the game Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was quizzed on Redknapp’s remarks to which he replied: “I don’t know I didn’t see those comments I heard about them,”

“I’m here to support every single player in the squad in the squad and all the time give them the best possible advice.

“Play them in their qualities and when they have difficult stay right behind them. That’s what we’ve tried with Auba.”

Arsenal’s next game is away to Leicester City in the Premier League and now in-form striker Aubameyang will be hoping to put in another good display and hopefully come away with all three points.

Kick-off for the game is midday (12pm GMT) on Sunday.
