SECOND Premier League team forced into cancelling Sunday training by COVID cases

Aston Villa have become the latest Premier League side to have trained affected by coronavirus, with multiple positive tests being reported.

Since the emergence of the Omicron variant, COVID fears in the United Kingdom have escalated. Unfortunately, the current state of affairs in the Premier League is unable to ease those fears.

Tottenham Hotspur had their two games this week postponed as a consequence of a COVID-19 outbreak at the training ground. They have, thankfully, been able to resume training today.

Manchester United had to cancel group training on Sunday after multiple positive tests were returned. With the Red Devils facing Brentford on Tuesday, that’s hardly ideal for preparation.

Aston Villa have now had their own troubles, with the Daily Mail reporting that they too were forced into cancelling training after staff members tested positive for the virus.

There is not thought to be any danger to their midweek clash with Norwich City, but again, Steven Gerrard will be frustrated that he has not been able to hit the training pitches with his players.
