Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has taken a not-so-subtle dig at Arsenal in wake of their victory on Thursday night.

Champions League-chasing, ten-men Arsenal gritted their teeth and held on to a one-goal lead to take all three points with them back to North London.

As the full-time whistle blew, some players hit the turf on their knees, thanking whichever god they believe in, while others celebrated wildly with each other.

Well, Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves clearly agrees. Quoted by talkSPORT, he took the mick out of Arsenal for celebrating as though they’d won the league.

“We saw the way they celebrated the win and that shows the level we are.”

“I didn’t see Arsenal celebrating like this in the past 10 years – it was like they won the league.”

Digging in and holding out for three points away to one of your fellow European contenders is certainly worthy of celebration.

Naturally, rival fans, and Neves alike, will use it as an opportunity to poke fun at Arsenal, but the Gunners will be the real winners if they make it into the top four…
